Here is a image of a rare alternate cover for the first volume of Apples of Gold. I was able to composited it with the black and white printed issue to give it a bit more detail. Apples of Gold was a weekly publication of the American Tract Society from 1872-1819.

Our Little Ones – October 1886
Here we have the cover of the October 3, 1886 issue of Our Little Ones. Monthly circulation of this publication was around 150,000 in 1901. Finding copies of these old children publications is rare. The only large collection of this publication is in the holdings of the Library of Congress, which begins with volume 27 (1899).
